A day after the agitating computer teachers of various government schools in Haryana were injured in the police lathi-charge, the teachers burnt effigies of the Panchkula police and raised anti-police slogans at the Sector 5 ground.
Two of the teachers, namely Umesh Panchal, 25, and Razia Sultana were seriously injured on Friday while the teachers forced their way to march towards the Shiksha Sadan.
Panchal, who was referred to Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Sector-12 after he received serious spinal injures, was taken to Rohtak by his family members on Saturday morning.
Sultana is under treatment at the General Hospital in Sector 6 for head injury and is continuing her hunger strike. It was also the sixth day of hunger strike launched by around 15 computer teachers from the group.
“They had brutally lathi-charged us on Friday, giving two hoots to the fact that around 15 of us had been on a hunger strike since July 28, ” said Suresh Nain, one of the agitating teachers, adding that the teachers were also protesting against the brutal action of the police.
The teachers were hired by private companies for teaching in schools in August 2013, and have alleged financial exploitations by the companies ever since like non-payment of salaries and collection of illegal security amount.
They are demanding that the Haryana government absorb them in service.
Meanwhile, the teachers were given an assurance by the directorate of school education that a meeting of the teachers would be held on August 5 with State Minister of Education Geeta Bhukkal, where the issue would be discussed.
