Grammy-winning Latin Jazz pianist Chucho Valdes fires up Gershwin’s timeless Rhapsody in Blue as part of James Conlon’s latest program of rollicking overatures and dances. The comedy of Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Weber’s Oberon and J. Strauss Jr.’s Die Fledermaus lend frivolity to their overatures, while Mendelssonhn’s Hebrides overatures- a standalone concert pieces instead of an introduction to an opera- transports you to the shores of Scotland. We’ll enjoy a catered dinner in a tent at Ravinia prior to the concert. Buffet dinner will also include beer and wine. This trip includes: catered tented dinner at Ravinia Park, reserved Pavilion seating and coach transportation.
